Warhammer Fantasy Battle League Guidelines
Purpose
The purpose of Fire and Sword Game Center's (FSGC) Warhammer Fantasy Battle (WFB) league is a simple one – to have fun. If you are not having fun at any moment in the league, don’t just walk away, come talk to us instead. We will try hard within the limits of our resources to bring fun back to you.
Registration and Fees
There is a monthly registration fee of $5.00 to participate in our WFB league. The fee will allow us to generate better terrains, special league events and simple upkeeps to maintain a high service standard to our players.
Ladder Ranking System (LR)
As mentioned in the LR section, all league players will have a chance to participate in our LR format. This will allow any players to find a game to their skill level easier. It will also create an interesting ladder challenging system (covered below) for any players who wish to test their skills. Also, since the LR for both the league play and tournament play use the same format, a league player can compare himself/herself freely with any tourney player before tackling any event.
Ladder Challenge
Aside from casual challenge games, any player in the league can challenge another player whose LR is higher than the challenger’s. The league coordinator will manage these special challenges and post the challenges both on the bulletin board and on-line. Since this is a hobby and not work, a player may not have more than one challenge against him/her at any times and have up to 2 weeks to honor that challenge. Failure to honor the challenge on the receiving party will result a minor victory in the challenger’s favor.
Other League Benefits
The biggest benefit aside from meeting a variety of players in the WFB league is probably the potential to enter any WFB bi-weekly tournament or WFB league only tournament for free.
In order to qualify for free entry, the player must meet two requirements. First, the player must retain an active (a minimum of 1 recorded LR game) LR during the week of the event. Secondly, the player must have the highest LR in the league last night of the tournament registration (the night prior to the event).
There will also be special events held from time to time for league members only, please consult the league coordinator with any ideas, suggestions and positive inputs.
Army Limitations
Since league plays promote casual gaming with a hint of competitiveness, the following rule of thumb is used in league play – if your army list and/or model is backed by some kind of GW publications and you have your opponent’s consent, go for it.
The following army lists are normally allowed in all league plays:
| | All army lists supported by current published Army books
|
| | Army lists available in Storm of Chaos (For Slayer’s Army’s Slayer Axe, use the ruling under the new Dwarf AB, for Ard Boys’s Black Orcs, use the ruling under the new O&G AB) |
| | Dogs of War or Regiments of Renown lists printed in Chronicle 2004 and any contingents that are published in WDs and available on the official website |
| | Chaos Dwarf army list available off the official site |
| | Any army lists that published in WDs which do not require your opponent’s approval at the beginning of the game |
Time Slots
Unlike other leagues, WFB league has no designated time slot to its players. It is by no means an oversight from our behalf. It simply means that league plays are welcome on any given days so long there is an open gaming table in the store.
Requirements
Even though the main purpose is to have fun, a few requirements are still enforced that everyone can have a jovial experience.
Painting is highly advised and encouraged in a league play. A painted figurine is not only visually stimulating, but it also shows respect to one’s opponent especially when the other party had put time and efforts into his/her game pieces. Thus, unpainted miniatures are only tolerated if the player is making a continuous effort upgrading his/her miniatures. As a house rule, any league player may ask any owner of an unpainted miniature to re-roll any dice result made by that miniature. Proxy of any gaming pieces, on the other hand are forbidden in any league plays.
The player is not restricted to a single army list during league plays. The player may even use different army lists on a same night provided that he/she plays different games.
There is also no limitation on what point level the players should partake. League players simply work these details with each other and make sure they have plenty of time to finish once started.
And last but not least, an open mind and a sense of humor – that will make even conflicts seem trivial and not interrupting anyone’s pace for fun.
