WFB Tournament Guidelines

Purpose

The purpose of Fire and Sword Game Center's (FSGC) Warhammer Fantasy Battle (WFB) tournaments is to satisfy the need for our more competitive players. Our vision is to offer a highly competitive environment where sportsmanship is valued above simple wins. Our ultimate goal is to assemble a team of qualified, good mannered players who would represent the shop (FSGC) in major tournaments and conventions under a sponsor program from us.

Tournaments Types

There are two types of WFB tournaments provided by FSGC on a regular basis.

Ladder Ranking System (LR)

As mentioned in the LR section, all WFB tournaments will be running under the FSGC LR system. This will help us to establish an effective system both in game match ups and tie breaks. The LR will be the main measurement used by us when selecting possible candidates to represent the shop in other non FSGC events.

Tournament Specifications

The followings are various TS available to the WFB game system.

Standard

The following army lists are allowed in a standard format FSGC WFB tournament:

- All army lists supported by current published Army books
- Army lists available in Storm of Chaos (For Slayer’s Army’s Slayer Axe, use the ruling under the new Dwarf AB, for Ard Boys’s Black Orcs, use the ruling under the new O&G AB)
- Dogs of War or Regiments of Renown lists printed in Chronicle 2004 and any contingents that are published in WDs and available on the official website
- Chaos Dwarf army list available off the official site
- Any army lists that published in WDs which do not require your opponent’s approval at the beginning of the game (player must present the related WD)

Players play their games according to the WFB rulebook (terrain placement, choosing side, deciding who goes first). Each game lasts 6 turns unless time is called at the end of the match round. The TO will warn players when there are 30 and 15 minutes left in a round respectably. When the final time is called, the current player may finish his/her phase then count off the victory points (VP). If in battle phase, the player must finish the current combat with no further pursuit movement or further unfinished combats. The player then turn in an accurately TTS to the TO and wait for the next round’s match up.

Limited

L (LD) / Limited – Lord No army may field more than 1 lord hero choice in the army. This includes special characters that take up lord hero choices to field. This TS only comes in effect if the game is played at 3000 pts or more.

L (SP) / Limited – Special The unit choice under the “Special” selection is limited to no more than 3 of the same type. Units with different armaments but under the same name are still considered to be of the same troop choice (the same goes for Chaos Marks). This TS is commonly used with L (Ra) to give players a chance to use new tactics with rarely fielded models.

L (RA) / Limited – Rare The unit choice under the “Rare” selection is limited to no more than 1 of the same type. Units with different armaments but under the same name are still considered to be of the same troop choice (the same goes for Chaos Marks).

L (CH) / Limited – Chariot No army may field more than 3 chariots in the game. A “2 for 1” unit choice for chariots is considered 1 chariot under this TS. Chariots with different armaments but under the same name are still considered to be of the same choice (the same goes for Chaos Marks).

L (WZ) / Limited – Wizard No army may field more than 1 wizard choice in the army. The level of the wizard, however, is not limited in any other ways.

L (SC) / Limited – Special Character No army may field more than 1 special character under this TS. Regiments of Renown are not considered special characters as an exception.

L (MI 100) / Limited – Magical Items (100) No army may field more than 1 magical item that consists of 50 or more army points in the game. Keep in mind this TS limit all magical item choices (weapon, armor, arcane, banners, runes, spites, and demonic/chaos gifts) available to the army not just items available to a lord level character. The name of the TS may be a bit misleading but it is only chosen that way to distinguish it from the following…

L (MI 50) / Limited – Magical Items (50) No army may field any magical items consist of 50 or more army points in the game. This TS limit all magical item choices (weapon, armor, arcane, banners, runes, spites, and demonic/chaos gifts).

Restricted

R (WM) / Restricted – War Machine No units under the “War Machine” category may be fielded in the game. Chariots are not considered war machines unless otherwise specified.

R (CV) / Restricted – Cavalry No units with a MV rating of 7 or more AND mounted on a 25 x 50 mm bases (or larger bases but are considered cavalry such as “Flying Cavalry”) may be fielded.

R (WZ) / Restricted – Wizard No wizards of any level may be fielded in the game. Bound items, on the other hand, are more than welcome to field to make up for the loss of magic.

R (SC) / Restricted – Special Character No special characters may be fielded in the game. An army list that is only available when a special character is fielded thus becomes unplayable under this TS.

R (MI) / Restricted – Magical Items No magical items (weapon, armor, arcane, banners, runes, spites, and demonic/chaos gifts) may be field in the game. Wizards and their spells are unaffected by this TS.

R (DoW/RR) Restricted – Dogs of War / Regiments of Renown No Dogs of War and/or Regiments of Renown may be fielded in the game. This does not affect the troop choices available to a Ogre Kingdom player.

R (SoC) Restricted – Storm of Chaos No Storm of Chaos lists and any special characters printed only in the Storm of Chaos army book may be fielded in the game.
