FSGC Weekly Events
Purpose
Every weekend Fire and Sword Game Center (FSGC) hosts either a Fantasy Battle or a Warhammer 40'000 tournament to satisfy the need for our more competitive players. Our vision is to offer a highly competitive environment where sportsmanship is valued above simple wins. Our ultimate goal is to assemble a team of qualified, good mannered players who would represent FSGC in major tournaments and conventions under a sponsor program from us.
Tournaments Types
There are two types of events provided by FSGC on a regular basis.
(For additional details specific to the event type, please follow the link provided above)
Ladder Ranking System
As mentioned in the Ladder Ranking System (LR), all Warhammer FSB and 40k tournaments will be running under the FSGC Ladder system. This will help us to establish an effective system both in game match ups and tie breaks. The Ladder will be the main measurement used by us when selecting possible candidates to represent the shop in other non FSGC events.
Tournament Specifications
The followings are various tournament specifications (TS) Used during the events:
Standard
The Standard format is defined in greater detail within the links provided above. In a general sense for WFB, a Standard Event is a three round affair that starts by 1 pm and typically ends by 6:30 pm. The terrain is reset by the players every round. The first two rounds are determined by a round robin style format to prevent undesirable matchups. ex. undead vs undead. The final round is matched using a power matched pairing scheme to determine the final placements
For 40K, a Standard Event is a three round affair that starts by 1 pm and typically ends by 6:45 pm. The terrain is reset by the players every round. The first two rounds are determined by a round robin style format to prevent undesirable matchups. ex. necron vs necron. The first two rounds are determined by a round robin style format to prevent undesirable matchups. ex. undead vs undead. The final round is matched using a power matched pairing scheme to determine the final placements
Best General
This format is based on the famous philosophy promulgated by Sun Tzu. Best General for WFB and 40K, is a Standard Event with a special twist. After every round, the opponents switch armies! By the final round, all the participants should have played with three different armies. Like the standard event the first two rounds are determined by a round robin style format to prevent undesirable match-ups. Ex: undead vs. undead. The final round is matched using a power matched pairing scheme to determine the final placements
